This four-painting series reflects Jonathan Charles’ deep connection to English tradition and the quiet nobility of the hound. Whippets and greyhounds, long admired for their grace and restraint, are portrayed not simply as subjects, but as companions shaped by lineage, loyalty and character. Heavily distressed surfaces and fine craquelure evoke the patina of time-worn oil paintings, lending each work an archival presence and a sense of lives quietly lived alongside them. Dark, weighty octagonal frames anchor the delicacy of the portraits with architectural strength and historic resonance. Together, the series is a tribute to English craftsmanship, continuity and the enduring bond between people and their hounds. To make a set of 8, view Nobel companions Set A
