This set of three artworks by Jonathan Charles takes its inspiration from ancient Egyptian scarabs – potent symbols of protection, rebirth and the eternal cycle of life. Revered as both amulets and sacred objects, the scarab embodied the passage of the sun and the promise of renewal. Presented within elegant black lacquered frames and linen matting, each scarab is set at the heart of concentric layers of cream mats, stepped inward to create a refined illusion of depth. The restrained composition draws focus to the artifact itself, transforming ancient symbolism into a timeless object of contemplation and quiet luxury.
